DESCRIPTION
This shop orientation is required to use the metal shop at Technocopia. Provides an overview of the shop, and to cutting and grinding tools.This class is an introduction to the metal shop at Technocopia. Students will complete a basic project, while learning to understand project plans, and the safe usage of core measuring and fabrication tools for working with metal.

This class will be alternately taught by Carlos Torres and Luke Young:
Carlos Torres is the metal shop steward at Technocopia. He is an enigma wrapped in a mystery wrapped in an international man of mystery. All that is known about him is that he briefly worked part-time at a Hollister while stationed in SoCal.
Luke Young is director and co-founder of the Garrison Speed Shop in Mendon, MA. The Garrison Speed Shop empowers Veterans and First Responders to focus on healing and positive living through Motorsport Recreational and Vocational programs. He spent 12 years working in the manufacturing industry as a welder, heavy equipment operator, and CNC programmer. Luke spent four years racing Sr. Champ Karts in Pomfret, CT, wherein 2014 he won the class championship. He has been riding ATV’s and involved with asphalt circle track racing since early childhood; he has been riding motorcycles for over 16 years.
